Optical brighteners

Optical brighteners come from the textile industry and are used, for example, to make T-shirts appear whiter and can be used perfectly on 3D printed components.

Optical brighteners are fluorescent substances whose function is to increase whiteness and brightness, and to compensate the yellowing of materials. The lightening property is due to their fluorescence, which absorbs invisible UV light (at 290-400 Nm).

Although this does not stop the yellowing of the components, it is not optically visible, so that the parts remain white even in long term.
