EYEWEAR
ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING FOR MODERN EYEWEAR
Additive manufacturing opens up new possibilities for the development and production of eyewear.
Complex geometries, individual designs, different sizes and product variants can be manufactured without conventional tooling.
CIPRES combines additive manufacturing with extensive experience in coloring and surface finishing to support eyewear projects from the first prototype to series production.
DESIGN FREEDOM WITHOUT CONVENTIONAL TOOLING
SLS manufacturing enables complex frame geometries and a high degree of design freedom without the need for molds or support structures.
Designs can be modified digitally, making it possible to develop different:
Shapes · Sizes · Styles · Variants · Colors · Surface finishes
This makes additive manufacturing particularly interesting for both new eyewear collections and customized products.
FROM PROTOTYPE TO COLLECTION
DEVELOP. TEST. PRODUCE.
New frame designs can first be produced as prototypes and evaluated for geometry, fit, function and appearance.
Once the design and process have been established, the same digital production approach can be used for small batches and recurring series.
This creates a flexible path from the first design to the finished eyewear collection.
COLOR IS PART OF THE DESIGN
Color plays an important role in the appearance and identity of eyewear.
With e-coloring, suitable additively manufactured polymer frames can be professionally dyed in a wide range of colors.
In addition to established colors, individual color solutions can be developed depending on the material and project requirements.
SURFACE FINISHING
FROM THE PRINTED FRAME TO THE FINISHED SURFACE
The surface of an additively manufactured frame can be modified through different post-processing and finishing technologies.
Depending on the desired appearance and feel, CIPRES can combine processes such as:
Surface Leveling · Tumbling · Dyeing · Chemical Smoothing · UV Protection · Optical Brightening · Painting
This allows the surface and color to become an integral part of the eyewear design.
INDIVIDUALIZATION & SERIES PRODUCTION
One of the key advantages of additive manufacturing is that not every frame within a series has to be identical.
Different sizes, geometries and product variants can be manufactured within a digital production workflow without requiring a separate mold for each version.
Combined with different colors and finishing options, this enables a high degree of product variation.
YOU PRINT – WE FINISH.
Already producing your eyewear using SLS, MJF or another suitable additive manufacturing technology?
Your frames do not have to be manufactured by CIPRES.
You can send externally manufactured parts to us for surface treatment, coloring and finishing.
This is particularly interesting for eyewear manufacturers that already have an established production partner but are looking for specialized finishing and coloring expertise.
