UV protection
UV absorbers are recommended for components that are exposed to strong light, especially in the automotive sector or outdoors. They prevent the strong fading of the surfaces. In addition, they are heat and temperature resistant.
Polyamides are inherently sensitive to light and thermal or chemical oxidation. Photosensitivity in polyamide components shows up after a few months due to its yellowish appearance. In the case of the colored laser sintered parts, this effect is hardly recognizable by the color. An UV absorber for colored components is nevertheless recommended. For workpieces that should remain white, the use of UV absorbers is essential.
For paints, UV absorbers are also used. These serve to improve the weather resistance. In coatings, nano-containing titanium dioxide can also be used as an inorganic UV absorber.
